Welcome to A.V.O.

Rev Adoniya and Margaret Kirinda

Welcome to A.V.O. The late Rev Adoniya and Margaret had a vision to evangelize historically starting in Uganda way back in the 1965. Rev. Adoniya along with his wife Margaret worked for world Literature Crusade then eventually he was ordained and pastored two churches in Kampala, Uganda. During that time they also used to have bible studies and prayer meetings held in their home in 1973, Idi Amin came into power and started persecuting Christians trying to turn Uganda into an Islamic nation in which Rev. Adoniya and Margaret Kirinda miraculously escaped death. Idi Amin sent soldiers to shoot Rev, Adoniya and his wife during a Bible study at their home, but instead they shot a wrong man. Eventuality after almost a year their five children were also smuggled from the country one by one with the youngest being two years old, Rev Adoniya and his wife struggled in America while he was going to school at Life Bible College, Azusa Pacific College and eventually at Fuller Theological Seminary where he received his Masters & PHD in Divinity.

Welcome to A.V.O. All along God was preparing him and his wife to go back and serve his country. Rev. Adoniya and Margaret spent 15 years in the USA during be reign of idi Amin and Milton Obote. It's during this time after finishing school in which Africa Village Outreach was formed; God gave Rev. Adoniya Kirinda and his wife a vision to work with the orphans and pastors. He started trying to accomplish this through working with the International Gospel League. He first tried it in Sudan and then wanted to do this all over Africa. Africa Village Outreach was founded in 1980. The founders are Rev Adoniya and Margaret Kirinda. In July 1988 Rev, Adoniya and his wife returned lo Uganda and their ministry of A.V.O as soon as it was safe to retun. Rev Adoniya Kirinda was killed in a plane crash on October 17, 1988 prematurely and unexpectedly and Margaret has continued their vision and led A.V O since that time.
Welcome to A.V.O.

Established In Uganda and the USA, Africa Village Outreach's vision is to minister to villages and orphans. The purpose Is to evangelize the people who live so remotely, to raise up pastors, to teach those pastors and equip them with the Gospel, The orphans, who were often raised by children, are placed in the care of 'mamas to help raise them. A.V.O provides their clothing and schooling when possible.

Rev, Margaret Kirinda's leadership and vision have brought significant increase to the number of churches and pastors, to the number of orphans provided for by A.V.O, and to the number of students being cared for and educated, it is difficult to estimate the exact number of churches. Our estimate is 37-40 A.V.O churches. There are numerous pastors who are not specifically A.V.O pastors who attend every meeting The Church on the Way Uganda team holds because they need the edifying team provides even though they are not under the A.V.O umbrella as formally A.V.O pastors. The team provides teaching materials for 120 pastors when they go to Uganda. That is never an adequate supply.
